Reunion AGES (Alor Gajah English School)

I went to school at the age of 7. It was in  1965. My school is about 3 miles from my kampong. My late father (http://gurukucemerlang.blogspot.com/2010/05/kami-generasi-guru.html) used to send me with his old bicycle. This primary school taught all subjects in English except Bahasa Melayu and Religious Knowledge (Agama Islam). My father was a pensioner from a Malay school and my late mother was a housewife- she used to do all sort of work, rubber tapping, planting paddy. It was an easy life during those years. I was given 10 cents every day. I used to buy and eat nasi lemak or kueh udang with sambal ikan bilis that costed 5 cents and drinks syrup 5 cents. Pupils wore school uniforms- boys wear short pants and girls wear skirts. They have to wear white rubber shoes. This school is coed and all races are there that include Malays, Chinese, Indians, Bombays, etc. We used to play together- football, hockey etc. and during fruit seasons these boys used to go to the kampongs to eat fruits. I attended  the school from 1965 to 1970. After Standard Six (1970) some of us left to different schools i.e. for their secondary education  and some of us remained in our hometown.

Years went by. Many years we haven't met. Some did not even recognise each other after so many years of separation. Even some have migrated to elsewhere. For almost  FOURTY YEARS that we did not meet together. But...at last with the present technology (Facebook), we then meet again.

We finally met in K.Lumpur recently. Wow... what a feeling. I am very happy to meet my old friends. It is a very very momentous!.We chat and chat, chat. It is seems that the time is running very fast. Oh dear.

I think our strong bonds today are blended in by our education system. If our teachers taught us good, then we come out as good and better citizen. We owed a lot to our teachers!.Thank you teachers.
